CONDENSED GUIDE // MACOS
Yuri's Revenge on macOS
Both chips work. The difference is how much translation sits between you and 2001.
Apple Silicon: CrossOver is the easiest path; the free Game Porting Toolkit also works. YR's x86 code runs through Rosetta 2 without complaint.
Intel: a current CrossOver or Wine build. Skip the 2019-era Wine guides — 32-bit support is why they existed, and modern bottles handle it.
Renderer: CnC-DDraw again. Fullscreen fights macOS Spaces — borderless windowed saves your sanity.
Keep the install out of iCloud-synced folders; sync locks corrupt map transfers mid-lobby.
Fans spinning up is the translation layer, not the game — any M-series chip is overkill for YR.
