CONDENSED GUIDE // LINUX
Yuri's Revenge on Linux
YR is a 32-bit Windows game from 2001 — it runs beautifully under translation, once the renderer behaves.
Wine 9+ via Lutris is the smooth path: a fresh 32-bit prefix, then the same CnCNet installer Windows uses.
Steam copy? Proton handles the Ultimate Collection — install once, then point the CnCNet installer at the game folder inside the prefix.
EA App copies are the painful path: install it under Proton once, copy the game folder out, never open the EA App again.
Renderer: CnC-DDraw with borderless windowed. If the client itself renders black, force its OpenGL backend.
Audio crackle is a buffer problem — raise Wine's audio buffer or run through PipeWire's Pulse shim.
